Graffiti

Graffiti is a big problem and it will only get bigger unless you help by calling in the graffiti you see to (206) 684-7587. Those of us who have cell phones should be entering this number in your directory and immediately contact the City's Graffiti Report Line. This problem affects all of us. There is someone on duty during daytime hours. We are told that we need to report the graffiti and not worry that someone else may have already reported it. The sooner it is reported and the more often, the higher the likelihood it will be taken care of in a timely manner.

Warm-Weather Security Alert!

A reminder this is the time of year we get careless and leave windows open and doors unlocked. Crime has surged across the city with criminals entering homes during the time home owners are working or relaxing out in their yards. Do not consider that because you are in the yard, you are safe from having a brazen burglar stealing from you.

Carl Prowls and Vandalism near Churches.

Parking lots and street parking around churches are having problems with cars being vandalized. In general, do not leave anything in your car that attracts a thief. There is a recent increase in thieves are targeting churches when church services or programs are going on. To make matters worse, often home addresses left in cars are used to further burglarize homes. Imagine finding your car having been broken into and then arriving at home to learn your home has been burglarized while you were gone.

A hint that should be taken to heart! Reduce the size of your car registration and your proof of insurance. Carry those items with you. Do not leave them in your car unattended. They are a great help to the thief that has already broken into your car!

Lake City Alert!

Last, but not the least. There are problems in and around 30th NE - 32nd NE and NE 143rd. Be cautious and be on the look out. One female police officer was sabotaged this last month by someone yelling at her from the right side of her patrol car. Someone else threw a huge rock through her open driver's window and broke bones in her face. More and more gang type activity is apparent in this area of Lake City. Your safety and the safety of officers are jeopardized by those who often are in that area.
